Discovering Angel Island: The Story Behind the Poems
Between the years 1910 and 1940, approximately 175,000 Chinese immigrants were processed at Angel Island. Many were placed in over crowded living spaces and separated from their families. As many as 100 persons would sleep in a 1000 square foot room.
